Dental laser is an advanced dental technology in the past 20 years. This technology requires not only a high knowledge reserve but also years of experience accumulation. But normally, clinicians may not have the subject of dental laser in university courses, or what they learn in the course is just the fur. This hinders the popularity of dental lasers, especially for beginners, who often think that dental lasers do not work or the effect is not obvious because they can't operate them very well. Therefore, it is particularly important to study laser technology and improve your dental laser application level through some organizations or societies. Here is a brief introduction to several international dental laser organizations and societies.
The World Federation for Laser Dentistry (WFLD), formerly known as International Society for Laser Dentistry (ISLD), serves as a not-for-profit medium for the exchange, advancement and dissemination of scientific knowledge related to LASER and its application in detecting, curing and preventing dental diseases.
Membership is encouraged for all those interested in the clinical use of LASER technology, research and development in Dentistry and Medicine. Together, we aim to improve global standards by providing conferences and educational training to catalyse the sharing of knowledge and innovative ideas in the field of Laser in Dentistry.
The Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) is the largest international organization devoted to laser dentistry. Its members include general dentists, pediatric dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, endodontists, periodontists, prosthodontists, hygienists, and others interested in the field of laser dentistry. Our membership also includes many commercial manufacturers of lasers, laser accessories and high-tech products.
ALD is devoted to clinical education, research and the development of standards and guidelines for the safe and effective use of laser technology. Through educational offerings and credentialing program, ALD provide valuable expertise in the field of lasers in dentistry - expertise that ultimately benefits the patients that dentists serve.
In cooperation with the Clinic for Dental Conservation, Periodontology and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Excellence RWTH Aachen, the Aachen Center for Laser Dentistry (AALZ) has created the first dental laser education institute in Germany. Known for its research in laser-assisted dentistry, it cooperates nationally and internationally with major research facilities.
Since foundation in 1991, the AALZ has been the leading worldwide specialist in dental laser education. AALZ offer recognized and accredited training and help you to meet your goal of becoming a laser specialist.
SOLA International is a non-profit organization which is independent of economic and party-political interests. The aim of the Society is the propagation and dissemination of knowledge in the use of lasers in dentistry and oral/maxillofacial surgery and the corresponding equipment and techniques.
SOLA stands for International Society for Oral Laser Applications and thus for the cooperation of leading European universities, which intensively and critically examine the application of lasers in dentistry and oral/maxillofacial surgery, ever with the patients best welfare in mind.
Other organizations such as American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, German Society for Laser Dentistry, Japanese Society for Laser Dentistry, etc. are also famous and helpful for laser dentistry.
